UK South Wales 31-05-87. Brand new, not a dead fly in sight, 150261 stands in the carriage depot already sporting a Ystrad Mynach destination board. For non locals that is a small community approx five miles north of Caerphilly on the Rhymney valley line.

I don’t know which is in worse condition? 08491 or the main stand at Cardiff City Football Club, both have seen better days. The shunter was withdrawn in September 1985 but managed to make it up to M C Metals in Glasgow. She was cut up in April 1991. Standing amongst the weeds, 08822 at Newport Pill. There used to be a depot building here and back in the days of steam it was not uncommon to see over a dozen Pannier tanks stabled here at the weekend. In the 70/80s 08s and 37s would have been the order of the day. All gone now. Notice the small sheep emblem under the number. Super Slug 1 (37901) stabled at Newport Godfrey Road SP. The 37/9s were fitted with an up rated Mirrlees power unit and ballast weights giving a higher HP rating. 37901 was thus named Mirrlees Pioneer.
