HSL-Zuid tunnel. Under the Dutch fields, windmills and deep below sea level, a 7.2 kilometer long TBM build tunnel runs deep below one of the Dutch most beautifull area's, the grean hearth... Protected at any cost this little part of nature between the mayor Dutch citys was spared during construction of the High Speed line from Amsterdam to Rotterdam. The biggest TBM in diameter ever 'Aurora' left something to be proud of. In the near future trains will thunder through the tunnel at 300 km'h. Yesterday High Speed Alliance operated a train into the tunnel to commance an evacuation drill. Ofcourse a lot of people including me couldn't recist taking pictures. Buy Print©Maarten Otto |
